KHAIRPUR: A district-wide polio vaccination campaign will be held in Khairpur from 2 to 5 February 2026, covering all 76 Union Councils, officials announced at a preparatory meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Altaf Ahmed Chachar at Sachal Sarmast Hall, DC Office.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of awareness campaigns, strict monitoring, and prompt reporting of contagious diseases such as measles. He instructed that cold chain systems and solar equipment for vaccines remain fully functional and emphasized improving vaccinators’ performance reporting and overall monitoring mechanisms.

DC Chachar also directed the ASP Police to ensure security for polio teams and asked Assistant Commissioners to actively participate in morning assemblies and field monitoring during the campaign. He highlighted the problem of quack doctors in the district and called for coordinated action with law enforcement against them.
According to briefings by Community Communication Officer Muhammad Rafi, NSO Dr. Ashraf Laghari, and District Polio Officer Dr. Rana Aaqib, the campaign will target 593,632 children under five. A total of 148 fixed teams, 39 transit teams, and 1,878 mobile teams have been formed, supported by 407 area in-charges. All preparations for the campaign have been completed.
Ahead of the drive, an advocacy seminar was held in collaboration with the Education Department, bringing together government and private school administrators, headmasters, headmistresses, and TEOs. Muhammad Rafi urged full cooperation in vaccinating all students under five to achieve campaign targets and prevent lifelong disability from polio.
