KARACHI: Kharadar Police have successfully apprehended a suspect linked to a high-profile robbery that occurred two days ago within the jurisdiction of Defence Police Station. The arrest followed a dramatic exchange of gunfire between the police and the suspect near the Nigar Cinema area, an area falling under the jurisdiction of Kharadar Police Station.
The suspect, identified as Asif, is believed to have played a direct role in the robbery, which involved a staggering Rs. 50 lakh, carried out in the Defence area. Following his arrest, the police recovered a pistol and a cache of ammunition from the suspect’s possession. A closer examination of Asif’s criminal history reveals a troubling pattern, with authorities confirming his status as a habitual and professional criminal. His past offenses include a range of serious crimes, highlighted by numerous arrests across various police stations.
Asif’s record includes multiple serious charges. These include Case No. 285 under Section 23(i)A at Malir Cantonment Police Station, Case No. 284 under Sections 392/398/34 at Malir Cantonment Police Station, and Case No. 586 under Sections 392/34 at SITE Super Highway Police Station. Other notable cases include Case No. 61 under Sections 324/353/147/148/149 at Manghopir Police Station, Case No. 435 under Sections 353/324/34 at Aziz Bhatti Police Station, and Case No. 437 under Section 23(i)A at Aziz Bhatti Police Station.
As of now, the suspect has been transferred to a hospital for medical treatment while remaining in police custody. Legal proceedings are currently underway, with authorities committed to ensuring the necessary steps are taken in accordance with the law.
