KARACHI: On the occasion of World Public Transport Day, the Leader of the Opposition in Sindh, Ali Khurshidi, has severely criticized the provincial government for its failure to provide a stable and effective public transport system for the citizens of Karachi. He stated, “The Sindh provincial government has completely failed in providing a reliable public transport service to the residents of Karachi.” Khurshidi further pointed out that all the claims made by the Sindh Minister for Transport regarding public transport are baseless and fabricated.
Khurshidi expressed his astonishment and disappointment, saying, “It is both surprising and regrettable that, despite their disastrous failure in public transport and other projects, the Minister for Transport continues to issue prideful statements.” He also labeled the Orange Line project a “mockery” and a waste of money, highlighting its complete failure and questioning its real purpose. He said, “The Orange Line has been nothing but a failed project, built purely to squander funds.”
Regarding the Red Line project, he stated, “The Red Line project has turned into a headache for Karachi’s citizens, leading to severe traffic jams and mental anguish for commuters.” He further criticized the Sindh government’s inability to deliver a proper public transport system despite claiming to rule the province for over 15 years, stating, “In the last 15 years, the government, despite its claims of governance, has not been able to provide even 500 buses to the city of Karachi.”
Khurshidi also accused the government of misleading the public with minimal bus services, saying, “By running only a few buses on the Pink Service, the government is deceiving the people of Karachi.” Concluding his remarks, Khurshidi stated, “For the past sixteen years, the Sindh government has been completely unsuccessful in providing an efficient transport system for the citizens of Karachi.”
