LANDI KOTAL: The termination of contracts for higher teachers has resulted in a significant staffing shortage in primary schools, exacerbated by the fact that these teachers have not received their salaries for the past eight months. In a press conference held at the Landi Kotal Press Club in District Khyber, Finance Secretary of the Higher Teachers Association, Jameel Khan, and President of the Teachers’ Organization District Khyber, Sharifullah Afridi, voiced their concerns and demands.
They emphasized that instead of dismissing higher teachers, the government should permanently hire them to address the ongoing staffing crisis in primary schools. Afridi pointed out that retaining these experienced educators is essential, as they had effectively prevented shortages in the past and significantly improved student performance. The situation has become critical, with many primary schools remaining closed due to insufficient staff, raising questions about the overall effectiveness of the educational institutions.
Afridi also condemned the provincial government’s decision to terminate the project, labeling it as outright injustice toward the higher teachers who have dedicated their efforts to the education sector. He urged the government to immediately release their outstanding salaries to support their families, reiterating that their hard work and dedication have played a vital role in enhancing educational outcomes.
