KOHAT: Kohat University of Science and Technology and the Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry agreed on a joint strategy to promote industrial growth and create new employment opportunities, in a move described as a serious effort to bridge the gap between education and business in the region.
The understanding was reached ahead of the “KUST Jobs and Industrial Expo”, scheduled to be held on 3 and 4 February under the auspices of Kohat University. As part of the preparations, the university’s director of ORIC, Dr Muhammad Zeeshan Bangash, along with Rubail Nazir, visited the Kohat Chamber of Commerce, where they met the chamber’s president Rashid Paracha, former president Engineer Syed Faiq Shah, Shakir Jahangir, Azmat Bangash, Tajain Ali, Khalid Paracha and other business figures.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on a joint strategy to ensure the success of the expo, encourage participation from the business community and maximise the benefits of the event. Dr Zeeshan Bangash said the expo would play a key role in connecting students with the practical job market and providing local industries with skilled human resources. He urged the business community to make full use of the platform to explore new opportunities for employment and investment.
Chamber officials said they were confident the expo would prove a milestone in promoting industrial activity in Kohat, restoring business confidence and opening new avenues of employment for young people. They said a wide range of sectors, including banking, information technology, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food and media, would take part in the event.
Earlier, an important review meeting was held at Kohat University under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Ilyas, where preparations for the expo, stall registrations and administrative arrangements were finalised. The vice-chancellor directed all concerned departments to make the event a successful and memorable example of collaboration between education and industry in Kohat.
