KARACHI: Korangi police arrested a suspected motorcycle lifter in Karachi after identifying him through CCTV footage and recovered the stolen vehicle. The suspect has been handed over for further investigation as officials verify his criminal record.
Police in Korangi District carried out a successful operation in the East Zone, arresting a man accused of motorcycle theft and recovering the stolen vehicle, according to a spokesperson for the district police.
The suspect was identified as Muhammad Shakeel, also known as Monwar, son of Saeed Ahmed Shah. Police said he stole the motorcycle within the limits of Korangi Police Station on 25 February 2026.
Officials said the accused was traced and identified with the help of CCTV cameras, which captured him committing the theft. Acting on the footage, the station house officer along with his team conducted a targeted operation, arrested the suspect and recovered the stolen motorcycle.
Police said the detained man had been shifted to the investigation wing for further questioning, while his previous criminal record was being verified.
Authorities added that efforts were under way to determine his possible involvement in other incidents.
