KARACHI: Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, Chairman of Korangi Town, hosted an iftar and dinner at the town office in honour of special children associated with the Ehsaas Special Welfare Association. Farooq Awan attended as chief guest.
A large number of children from Landhi and Korangi were present along with their parents and teachers. Town officials, elected representatives and members of civil society also attended. The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a naat in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Addressing the gathering, Muhammad Naeem Sheikh said special children were a valued part of society and that sharing in their happiness was a collective responsibility. He said Korangi Town had been taking continuous steps to support the welfare of special persons in education, healthcare and recreational facilities to help them secure a dignified place in society.
Farooq Awan described the initiative as commendable, saying such gatherings encouraged special children and conveyed a positive message to the wider community. He assured participants that efforts would continue at the provincial level to safeguard the rights of special persons and improve available facilities.
After iftar, a collective prayer was offered for the country’s progress, peace and security, and for the bright future of the children. At the close of the event, the chairman and the chief guest distributed Eid gifts among the children, whose visible joy was evident as they received them. Parents thanked the organisers for what they described as a thoughtful gesture.
The ceremony concluded with commemorative photographs and a renewed pledge to prioritise the wellbeing and happiness of special persons as a mark of a compassionate and welfare-oriented society.
