DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Acting on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department recovered more than 13 maunds of hashish worth millions of rupees in separate operations in Khyber and Abbottabad districts.
The crackdown was carried out under the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Minister for Excise Syed Fakhar Jahan, supervised by Secretary Excise Khalid Ilyas and Director General Excise Abdul Haleem Khan.
In Khyber, a team led by Excise and Taxation Officer (Narcotics Control) Majid Khan and Provincial In-charge Excise Intelligence Bureau Saud Khan Gandapur, along with local officers, intercepted vehicle PL-535 near Karkhano Check Post, recovering 4.5 maunds (180,000 grams) of hashish. The accused, Yasir Shahzad of Rawalpindi, was arrested, and a case registered at Excise Police Station Khyber.
In Abbottabad, another team under Saud Khan Gandapur and Majid Khan raided near Fareedullah Fish Point on GT Road. Vehicle SB-3915 was searched, yielding 8.55 maunds (342,000 grams) of hashish. Muhammad Arshad of Badaber, Peshawar, was arrested, and a case registered at Excise Police Station Abbottabad.
Minister Syed Fakhar Jahan reaffirmed that strict action against drug trafficking will continue and that the zero-tolerance policy will be implemented without exception. He added that the Excise Force is being strengthened to ensure a drug-free province and protect the lives and future of the youth.
