DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Faisal Karim Kundi announces Rs4.5m in grants for bar associations in Dera Ismail Khan, reaffirming PPP support for the legal community

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that lawyers have consistently played a vital role in Pakistan’s democratic development, adding that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always stood alongside the legal fraternity. He was speaking at a ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan held to distribute grant cheques Rs4.5m to the District Bar Association Dera Ismail Khan, Tehsil Bar Daraban and the Kalachi Bar Association.

Kundi thanked the ministry of law for its cooperation in the process and acknowledged the role of Pakistan People’s Party parliamentarian Sardar Fatahullah Khan Mian Khel. He said lawyers from the district had rendered historic services in upholding the rule of law and ensuring the provision of justice at both provincial and national levels, noting that several eminent judges had hailed from the area.

The governor stressed that unity was essential to promote peace and harmony and to address public issues across the region. During the ceremony, Kundi presented a cheque of Rs2.5m to Qaisar Khan Mian Khel, president of the District Bar Association Dera Ismail Khan; Rs1m to Yasir Khan, president of the Kalachi Bar Association; and Rs1m to Gul Rehman Khan, president of the Daraban Bar Association.

Kundi also announced that grants for the Paroa and Paharpur bar associations would be ensured in the near future. Speaking on the occasion, Qaisar Khan Mian Khel, who is also the PPP divisional president, said Governor Kundi had previously played an important role in resolving issues faced by both the High Court Bar and the District Bar.

He expressed gratitude for the provision of grants not only to the District Bar but also to the tehsil bars, adding that as Dera Ismail Khan was the governor’s home district, the legal community hoped he would continue to play a constructive role in addressing outstanding concerns.

The ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council member Sardar Hashmat Rehman Sadozai, District Bar general secretary Sardar Adnan Saeed Sadozai, finance secretary Sheikh Mahmood-ul-Hassan, advocate Habibullah Khan, PPP district general secretary Abid Awan, Peoples Lawyers Forum leader Shah Fahd Ansari, and Sardar Hizbullah Khan Gandapur, among others.
