PESHAWAR: An online open court (Khuli Kacheri) for the Irrigation Department was held at the office of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation, Riaz Khan, in Peshawar, allowing the public to directly present their complaints and concerns.
During the session, Minister Riaz Khan received calls from residents across various districts of the province and listened to their problems personally. Secretary Irrigation Abdul Basit and other senior departmental officials were also present. All complaints were formally recorded, and contact details of the complainants were noted for follow-up.
The Minister directed officers to take practical steps to resolve issues within one to two weeks and to keep the complainants informed of progress. He stressed that the Irrigation Department, as a public service institution, would tolerate no negligence in addressing public concerns. Officers failing in their duties would face strict action.
Riaz Khan described the open court as a reflection of the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan and Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi, aimed at establishing direct contact with citizens and prioritising resolution of their issues.
He emphasised that such initiatives enhance transparency, accountability, and public trust, while ensuring that merit and justice remain central to departmental operations. The Minister reaffirmed the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, nepotism, and misuse of authority, and pledged continued efforts to make the Irrigation Department more efficient, transparent, and people-friendly.
