KARACHI: The University of Karachi has recently announced the results for the BCom Regular and External Part-I and II of the Annual Examinations 2023, revealing a mixed performance among students. According to the gazette published by the university, a total of 734 candidates registered for the BCom Regular Part-I exams, with 697 actually appearing for the papers. Of these, 340 students successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 48.78 percent.
In the BCom Regular Part-II examinations, the situation was slightly different. Out of 3,633 registered candidates, 3,429 students took the exams. The results indicated that 59 candidates achieved first division, while 1,488 students secured second division, and three candidates managed to pass with third division. The overall pass percentage for this part was recorded at 45.20 percent.
Turning to the BCom External examinations, the results for Part-I showed that out of 289 registered candidates, 261 students appeared for the exams, with 111 candidates passing, which gives a pass percentage of 42.53 percent. In the BCom External Part-II exams, 1,145 candidates were registered, and 1,038 students participated. Among them, 21 students achieved first division, 359 secured second division, and one candidate passed with third division. The overall pass percentage for this segment was notably lower, at 36.71 percent.
These results reflect the ongoing challenges faced by students in the current educational landscape, prompting discussions about academic preparedness and support mechanisms within the university system. The pass rates, particularly in the External examinations, indicate a pressing need for enhanced academic resources and guidance to better equip students for their assessments in the future.
