PESHAWAR: An awards ceremony was held at the Governor House in Peshawar to recognize the outstanding contributions of journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Governor Faisal Karim Kundi presenting honors to 22 media professionals for their exemplary services.
The event was attended by prominent figures including Awais Jadun, Chairman of the Balochistan International Think Tank, M. Riaz, President of Peshawar Press Club, Kashifuddin Syed, President of the Khyber Union of Journalists, as well as office-bearers of the Peshawar Press Club and a large gathering of journalists from across the province.
The awards, presented by the Balochistan International Think Tank, were conferred on senior and prominent journalists including M. Riaz, Farzana Ali, Zia-ul-Haq, Shamim Shahid, Kashifuddin Syed, Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Bakhtzada Yousafzai, Zahir Shah, Faridullah Khan, Shahid Hameed, Khalid Khashgi, Amjad Ali Khan, Yaseen Qureshi, Arshad Aziz Malik, Naveed Alam, Saif-ul-Salam, Farooq Firaq, Wasim Ahmad Shah, Farmanullah Jan, Bilal Ahmad, Shehzad Ahmad, and Alamgir Khan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Awais Jadun and M. Riaz thanked Governor Kundi for acknowledging the role of journalists in society. Governor Kundi congratulated the recipients and highlighted the challenging conditions under which journalists operate in the province.
He further announced plans to extend such awards to journalists across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the provincial level, emphasizing the importance of encouraging media professionals at every level. “The media plays a vital role in guiding the public through uncertainty and despair. Together, we must work to present a positive and capable image of our province to the world,” the Governor said.
The ceremony underscored the government’s recognition of journalists’ dedication and reinforced the commitment to supporting media excellence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
