SUKKUR: the Institute of Chemistry at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur hosted the “Green and Sustainable Chemistry Poster Exhibition: Public Awareness to Keep Our Environment Safe, Clean, and Green.” The event was a collaborative effort between the American Chemical Society (ACS)-SALU International Student Chapter and the Institute of Chemistry, SALU Khairpur, aiming to raise awareness about environmental conservation through science and chemistry.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ahmed Jakhrani, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, marking the beginning of a day dedicated to showcasing the importance of green chemistry. The event featured presentations of forty-two posters and twelve scientific models, which were developed by undergraduate students from the Institute of Chemistry, SALU Khairpur, as well as Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Khairpur. Students from local schools, such as Government English Medium School in Cambridge System Sukkur, Azad Public School Bhiria Road, and Tahira Public School Zawarabad, also participated, bringing additional perspectives to the exhibition.
Dr. Bhajan Lal Bhatia, Faculty Advisor of the ACS-SALU Chapter, expressed gratitude to the American Chemical Society (ACS), as well as key university figures including Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ahmed Jakhrani, Prof. Dr. Khalida Parveen Mahar (Director of the Institute of Chemistry), Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi (Professional Advisor of ACS-SALU), and others, for their support in organizing the event.
Prof. Dr. Khalida Parveen Mahar also commended the students for their active participation and extended her thanks to the event organizers, faculty, and department heads. She recognized the efforts of the expert panel—Prof. Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, Dr. Shamroz Bano Sahito, Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi, and Prof. Dr. Gul Afshan Soomro—along with the class supervisors, for their dedication in guiding students through their projects.
