DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Local Council Board (LCB) Peshawar has failed to issue a notification for the minimum monthly fixed pay of Rs40,000, five months after it was mandated, leaving fixed-pay and daily-wage employees in Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa frustrated. Workers said the delay had worsened their financial difficulties amid record inflation.
Office bearers of the Local Government Employees Federation Registered Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Shaukat Kayani, Haji Anwar Kamal Khan Marwat, Mehboob Ullah, and Suleman Khan Hoti, urged the provincial government, Chief Minister of KP, Minister for Local Government & Rural Development, Chief Secretary, Secretary Local Government, and Secretary Local Council Board to immediately implement the Labor Welfare Department’s directives regarding the minimum monthly wage.
They noted that the provincial government had already fixed the minimum pay at Rs. 40,000, yet the LCB had not issued the required notification. Despite repeated government instructions, no progress had been made, leaving thousands of low-paid workers without relief.
Daily-wage employees in TMAs and the Local Council Board expressed deep resentment and began voicing protests. The Federation called on the provincial government to take urgent action and issue the notification without delay so that municipal workers could receive the wages to which they were legally entitled.
