KARACHI: Friends of Barrister Muhammad Sarfaraz Ali Maitlo have formally endorsed G M Korai for the presidency of the Karachi Bar Association, signaling a consolidation of influence ahead of next week’s elections.
The endorsement was agreed at a core committee meeting chaired by Barrister Maitlo at his office, attended by representatives of all 25 member groups within the alliance. After deliberations, the committee announced unanimous support for Korai, who, along with his full panel, has merged with the Maitlo-led group to form a joint electoral bloc.
The meeting also approved the launch of Korai’s election campaign, scheduled to begin on Tuesday morning at the City Courts, with the alliance pledging full support for his bid to lead the KBA through 2026.
Groups that aligned with Barrister Maitlo before the Sindh High Court Bar Association elections remain part of the alliance, underlining its internal cohesion. Legal observers say the unified front could prove decisive in a tightly contested contest for leadership of Karachi’s legal community.
