SUKKUR: A man identified as Lakho Bheel allegedly killed his mother, two sisters, and brother-in-law on Wednesday in Ali Jan Marri village near Jhoal, Sanghar District, after a family dispute regarding his intent to enter a love marriage. Following the incident, the suspect reportedly took his own life near the police station.
According to initial reports, Bheel opened fire with a pistol, killing his mother, Kanka; his sisters, Dhanky and Radha; and his brother-in-law, Renjo Bheel. Police sources indicated that Bheel’s family had opposed his plan to marry a divorced woman he intended to sell. When his family objected, Bheel allegedly retaliated violently and fled the scene.
Local authorities have shifted the deceased to a nearby hospital for autopsy and necessary procedures. DSP Jam Nawaz Ali said that Bheel became enraged after the family’s refusal to consent to his marriage plans and used this as a motive for the killings. Following the murders, Bheel reportedly arrived at the police station, where he took his own life with the same weapon.
DSP Pervez added that the incident appears unusual, as cases in Pakistan involving love marriages typically see families acting against the couple, rather than the individual retaliating against their own family. Police confirmed that Bheel’s accomplice, Tharoo Bheel, has already been taken into custody as investigations continue. Sources indicated that Lakho Bheel had previously “sold” his divorced sister Radha to a friend for Rs. 150,000, promising to marry her off, which had reportedly exacerbated family tensions. Police are continuing their investigation to clarify details surrounding the incident.
