KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has inaugurated projects to shift pumping stations in Papri, Malir, and Ghaghar, Gadap, to solar energy, aiming to ensure uninterrupted water supply in areas affected by load-shedding.
Speaking at the ceremony, attended by MPA Sajid Jokhio and other party leaders, the mayor said that problems in the supply of clean drinking water caused by electricity outages had been resolved. He said the city administration would go to every possible extent to provide basic facilities to citizens.
Wahab said solar energy would reduce dependence on K-Electric while promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable power solutions. He directed the Water Corporation to convert more pumping stations to solar energy in the next phase.
Thanking residents of Malir for their warm reception, the mayor said the Sindh government would provide further development schemes for the area. He added that the Sindh government and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation were taking continuous practical measures to improve water supply, electricity services and infrastructure across the city.
