KARACHI: Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, inaugurated a modern swimming pool at the KMC Sports Complex on Kashmir Road on Monday, marking a significant addition to the city’s recreational infrastructure. The facility, built at a cost of 150 million rupees, is designed to meet international standards and provide a safe, high-quality experience for residents.
Addressing a press conference, Mayor Wahab expressed his deep sorrow over a tragic incident that had occurred the previous day, offering condolences to the affected family and assuring that strict action would be taken against those responsible.
He highlighted that the newly constructed swimming pool is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a modern electronic filtration system to maintain consistently clean water. An automated purification system, functioning according to international standards, has also been installed to ensure water safety.
In addition, a digital water-quality monitoring system has been activated for continuous oversight, while an advanced drainage and skimming system has been introduced to further enhance the facility’s safety and hygiene.
Mayor Wahab emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Karachi Municipal Corporation are taking proactive steps to promote sports across the city. He described the sports complex as a valuable asset for the city’s youth, noting that such projects play a crucial role in encouraging healthy activities and fostering community engagement.
