MEHAR: Candidates who scored between 33 and 39 marks in the 2021 IBA test staged a protest in Mehar against alleged dual policies and favoritism in the recruitment of primary school teachers. The demonstrators marched from Ghanta Ghar Chowk to the National Press Club, where they held a sit-in.
The protest was led by Asif Ali Khoso, Ashfaq Chandio, Younis Laghari, Nadeem Solangi, Zulfiqar Chandio, Syed Afzal Shah, Tariq Solangi, and Aftab Samtio. Leaders claimed they have been demanding a uniform recruitment policy for five years, but the Sindh government has ignored their appeals, despite clear directions from the Karachi High Court.
Protesters called on President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP leaders Faryal Talpur and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to address the injustice and implement a consistent policy that provides employment to educated youth.
They warned that their sit-in would continue until candidates with 33–39 marks are declared successful and appointment orders issued, highlighting that vacant teaching positions remain in Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah. The demonstrators also cautioned that extreme measures, including collective suicide, may be considered if their demands are ignored.
