President Vladimir Putin says Ukrainian provocation is doomed to fail, and after it does, Russia’s opponents “will have a true desire, not in words, but in deeds, to move to peaceful negotiations”

Metro Morning Report

KYZYL, RUSSIA: During a visit to Kyzyl, the capital of Russia’s Siberian region of Tuva, President Vladimir Putin lauded the extraordinary efforts of Russian servicemen engaged in the special military operation. His comments underscored a continued commitment to addressing regional provocations and stabilizing border areas despite ongoing tensions with Ukraine.

Speaking to school students in Kyzyl, Putin emphasized that the valor and dedication of Russian soldiers are deserving of literary tribute. His praise comes as Russia faces continued provocations from Ukraine, particularly in the Kursk Region. Putin expressed confidence that these attempts to disrupt Russia’s progress in Donbass will ultimately be unsuccessful. He reassured that the Russian government is resolute in addressing such provocations and maintaining stability in border regions like Kursk, Belgorod, and Bryansk.

“Certainly, we have to deal with these thugs who made it into Russia, into the Kursk Region, as well as with attempts to destabilize the situation in the border region,” Putin stated. He predicted that these provocations would fail and suggested that Russia’s adversaries would eventually be forced to seek peaceful negotiations. Putin also criticized the Ukrainian government for maintaining martial law, which he argued is a tactic to avoid the political fallout from elections they are likely to lose. He accused the Ukrainian authorities of undermining domestic laws, including suspending presidential elections, which he claimed contradicts the Ukrainian constitution.

The President reassured the public that the Russian military is fully committed to restoring normalcy in conflict-affected regions and ensuring the safety and well-being of children in those areas. He highlighted the significant contribution of Tuva residents to the special military operation, noting that approximately 10,000 individuals from the region are involved. Putin praised this as a continuation of longstanding traditions and a testament to their enduring strength.

Addressing international relations, Putin remarked on the support from some Western individuals for traditional values and Russia, despite the prevailing political narratives. He acknowledged Russia’s ongoing engagement with Western countries, even amidst attempts to isolate it. He also noted the rapid growth of domestic tourism in Russia, including in Tuva, as a positive development. Framing the special military operation as crucial for protecting Donbass and ensuring the absence of anti-Russian bases in Ukraine, Putin stressed the importance of public support and unity within Russia. He attributed the nation’s resilience and successes to the collective attitude and backing of its people.

In his concluding remarks, Putin condemned what he described as hostile elites in various countries who seek to undermine Russia’s development. He characterized these elites as obstacles to Russia’s progress, claiming they have been attempting to slow down the country’s growth for centuries. The President’s statements reflect a firm stance on national security, regional stability, and international relations, underscoring Russia’s resolve in navigating ongoing challenges and reinforcing its strategic objectives.
