Five terrorists killed and weapons seized in a separate clash in Balochistan’s Pishin district, CTD reports.

RAWALPINDI: Security forces successfully averted a major assault on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Mohmand district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing reported on Saturday.

The attack was carried out by four suicide bombers affiliated with the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The militants attempted to breach the FC headquarters early on Friday morning but were swiftly neutralized by the security personnel. “The attempt to enter the camp was effectively thwarted by our forces, and all four suicide bombers were eliminated before they could cause any damage,” ISPR stated. This successful operation averted what could have been a devastating attack on the security forces.

A sanitization operation is currently underway to ensure that no remaining terrorists are present in the vicinity. The ISPR emphasized the military’s continued vigilance and its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country, stating, “Our security forces stand valiant, demonstrating sheer determination and resolve in their mission.”

In a separate incident, five terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces at the Surkhab refugee camp in Balochistan’s Pishin district. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reported that a large cache of arms and ammunition was seized from the terrorists’ hideout.

During a Defence Day ceremony at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s determination to combat terrorism. He pledged to continue the operation against Fitna al-Khawarij until their complete eradication, underscoring a national consensus on tackling the terror threat.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the security forces for their effective response to the attack, praising their bravery in neutralizing the threat under the cover of darkness and highlighting their critical role in safeguarding national security. The coordinated efforts in Mohmand and Pishin underscore Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism, sending a clear message of resilience and resolve from both the military and government officials.
