KARACHI: Senior MQM Pakistan leader and MNA Syed Amin-ul-Haq voiced concerns over water supply and drainage challenges in Karachi, particularly in Orangi Town, during a meeting with Sindh Assembly Opposition Leader Ali Khurshidi and other officials. The delegation emphasized the urgency of addressing these issues and demanded reforms within the Nadra system to alleviate difficulties faced by citizens.
In a high-level meeting attended by Opposition Leader Ali Khurshidi and MQM Provincial Assembly members Muzahir Amir, Ijaz-ul-Haq, Nasir Ahmed, and Sheikh Abdullah, along with officials from the Water and Sewerage Corporation and Nadra Sindh, concerns were raised regarding the dire state of water supply and drainage infrastructure in Karachi.
MQM leader Syed Amin-ul-Haq highlighted the grave challenges faced by residents, particularly in Orangi Town, where water scarcity persists due to the influence of the tanker mafia. Illegal connections exacerbate the issue, leading to widespread water theft and exacerbating the plight of citizens.
During the meeting, the delegation emphasized the need for urgent action to address these pressing issues, including the expedited issuance of identity cards, expansion of Nadra Mega Centers, and facilitation of identity card acquisition for expatriate Pakistanis from Eastern Pakistan.
Water Board officials assured the MQM delegation of swift resolution of the water supply and drainage concerns, committing to addressing the challenges promptly. Additionally, Director General Nadra Sindh pledged to implement reforms within the Nadra system to streamline processes and enhance service delivery to citizens.
The MQM delegation proposed practical solutions, including extending the operating hours of Nadra offices in Orangi Town, deploying Nadra mobile units to various areas of the city, and exploring options for establishing a new Nadra Center in Sirjani Town to improve accessibility for residents.
