KARACHI: Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) Chairman Afaaq Ahmed has called on religious scholars and social leaders to unite and contribute actively to the betterment of Karachi and the promotion of national cohesion.

Ahmed made the remarks during a meeting with a Sunni delegation led by Allama Asif Mustafai at his residence. The discussion focused on the country’s evolving socio-political challenges, the need to curb sectarianism, and the critical role religious leaders can play in fostering national unity.

“Pakistan is currently facing both external pressures and internal challenges. In such circumstances, the voice of religious leaders can serve as a cornerstone for national stability,” Ahmed said. He added that societal unrest must be addressed not merely through sermons but with practical strategies, emphasizing the importance of guiding the youth, fostering character, and promoting a balanced worldview.

The delegation expressed full support for Ahmed’s vision and pledged to intensify efforts to counter religious misconceptions and sectarian tendencies, particularly by developing joint initiatives for youth guidance.

Both sides also agreed on enhancing communication among scholars of different schools of thought to strengthen national unity and religious harmony. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to maintain close coordination in future efforts.
