KARACHI: The Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiq (MQM-H) has condemned the raising of Sindhudesh and anti‑state slogans during recent cultural events, warning that displays of weapons and firing on police amount to a direct challenge to the authority of the state.
In a statement issued on Sindhi Ajrak Day, the party’s secretary general, Shahid Faraz, said MQM‑Haqiqi respects every community’s culture and heritage but “those who chant anti-Pakistan slogans or take up arms against the country’s security institutions are enemies of the state — and we will stand like a fortified wall against every such hostile act”.
Faraz said the recent emergence of Sindhudesh‑aligned activities in parts of Sindh, particularly Karachi — including pro‑India slogans and firing on law enforcement — had sparked deep concern and anger among citizens. “These incidents have not only challenged the writ of the state, they have also sent a disturbing message to Pakistan’s patriotic people in Sindh,” he said.
The MQM-H general Secretary argued that the Sindhudesh narrative was “a direct attack on Pakistan’s constitution, national unity and defensive security”, adding that some groups were promoting divisive agendas on the basis of language, ethnicity and provincial grievances. “This is unacceptable to the people of Sindh and to the Mohajir community,” he said.
Karachi and other urban centers of Sindh, he noted, had always made sacrifices for Pakistan’s unity, democracy and stability, and their residents rejected any separatist movement. Faraz urged the federal government, the interior ministry and security agencies to take decisive action against groups involved in anti‑state activities, restore the state’s writ in Sindh’s urban areas and expose those facilitating such incidents. “Against every threat to Pakistan’s security, MQM‑Haqiqi will stand as a wall,” he said.
