
KARACHI: A high-level delegation from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan held a meeting with British High Commissioner Jean Merritt in Karachi and have an in-depth discussion on Pakistan’s geographical significance in the region, current challenges of terrorism and economic hurdles, and their solutions underway.
The delegation comprised senior leaders of MQM-P, including MNA Syed Mustafa Kamal, Dr. Farooq Sattar, former Senator Nasreen Jalil, Senator Syed Faisal Sabzwari, MPA Tahira Asif, along with Political Counselor Mark Bailey and Deputy Head of Mission Karachi Martin Dowson. The meeting involved detailed discussions on Pakistan’s geographical significance in the region, ongoing counterterrorism efforts, economic challenges, and potential solutions.
Talking on the occasion, Mustafa Kamal emphasized the need for political parties to collaborate to address Pakistan’s current economic and political crises. He stressed the importance of country’s alliance with friendly countries like United Kingdom to safeguard mutual interests in the future. Kamal underscored MQM-Pakistan’s significant political mandate in Karachi, highlighting the city’s importance in Pakistan’s economy and addressing its deep-rooted issues.
During the discussion, Dr. Farooq Sattar stressed the importance of joint cooperation among political parties and informed decisions to overcome prevailing challenges. British High Commissioner Jean Merritt expressed goodwill towards Pakistan and extended congratulations to the newly elected members of national and provincial assemblies of MQM-Pakistan. She expressed hope that MQM-Pakistan would play a vital role in resolving Pakistan’s difficulties as a central urban political party.
