KARACHI: At a training session for departmental heads at the Bahadurabad center, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, chairman of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P), said the real strength of any political movement rested in its ideology rather than in individual personalities.
Dr. Siddiqui said those who drifted away from an organization’s core principles ultimately became captive to personal ego, losing their connection to the collective purpose and discipline that defined loyalty to the movement. He stated that MQM-P’s ethos requires members to subordinate personal ambitions to collective ideals and to dedicate themselves selflessly to the service of the nation.
“The movement does not cultivate leaders for individual fame; it cultivates accountable and responsible members who answer to the people,” he said. He underscored that loyalty and respect must be earned, not demanded, and cautioned against the perils of self-adulation, which he described as toxic to organizational discipline.
Highlighting historical lessons, he noted that idolization of personalities has repeatedly harmed movements, and MQM-P has maintained its focus on the collective mission despite facing criticism and sabotage attempts by self-interested factions. “Even in times of adversity, MQM-P has guided the nation and steadily advanced its goals. Numbers alone have never defined our success,” he remarked.
Dr. Siddiqui further instructed party workers to avoid actions driven by personal vanity or self-promotion, declaring them violations of organizational discipline. He urged members to disregard rumors and instead work to realign the party with its founding principles, ensuring MQM-P continues on a path of accountability, purpose, and service to the nation.
