KARACHI: Syed Mustafa Kamal, a member of the Central Committee of MQM-Pakistan, expressed heartfelt condolences and sorrow to the parents of Atiq, who was martyred by gunshots the day before. He stated that for the past 50 years, only in Sindh, an oppressive quota system has been implemented, which has closed the doors of educational institutions and government offices for the capable people of urban areas in Sindh.
These sentiments were expressed in a statement issued from the MQM-Pakistan Central Election Office, Pakistan House. Mustafa Kamal further stated that for the past 50 years, fake domiciles have been issued repeatedly, and even rural people from Sindh are brought to Karachi for jobs, despite the excesses of this oppressive quota system. Parents still manage to educate their children in expensive private educational institutions, but now, the capable youth of Karachi are being selectively targeted, sometimes for their motorcycles, sometimes for their mobile phones. This is not just a series of robberies but a calculated conspiracy to genocide against the people of Karachi.
A plea is made to the rulers of the country and the heads of state institutions to have mercy on the plight of the people of Karachi. Since the inception of Pakistan, Karachi has been leading the country. The massacre in Karachi is the massacre of this country. Just as suo motu notices can be taken for the violation of the rights of a few individuals, notice should also be taken for the genocide of the people of Karachi. Our polite request and hope are that, just as the superior judiciary will take suo motu notice of the ongoing genocide of Karachiites for the past 50 years.
