KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has officially launched a national tree plantation campaign across the city. The initiative began with the planting of saplings at the Sector 11/A Hockey Stadium in North Karachi Town. Senior leader and Member of National Assembly Dr. Farooq Sattar emphasized that MQM-P views this campaign as a national and civic duty, aiming to plant millions of trees throughout the country.

Dr. Farooq Sattar highlighted the critical need for afforestation to improve air quality, citing the detrimental effects of rising heatwaves in coastal areas like Balochistan, Sindh, and particularly Karachi. He lamented that addressing climate change and environmental protection have not been prioritized by any government or political party. Moreover, the lack of awareness and action on global warming has not featured in the agendas of political entities claiming to represent public rights. In response, MQM-P has taken it upon itself to lead this effort. Dr. Sattar further noted that while the reckless use of natural resources globally has caused harm, technology has provided some mitigation. He stressed the need for the nation to begin efforts to prevent the overuse of natural resources to ensure positive development.

Senior leader and Member of National Assembly Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan added that MQM-P is actively fighting against global warming. He called on every worker to participate in the tree planting campaign and to raise public awareness about the importance of afforestation and its protection. He reiterated that MQM is dedicated to fighting for the rights of oppressed individuals across the city and the nation on constitutional, legal, and political fronts. The event was also attended by Provincial Assembly Member Abdul Waseem, along with town officials, party workers, and a large number of supporters.
