KARACHI: Leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan and Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Ali Khurshedi met with the CEO of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Syed Salahuddin Ahmed to discuss pressing issues related to water shortages and poor sanitation in the city, particularly in District West.
During the meeting, MQM-P leader expressed deep concerns and reservations about the persistent water shortages, inadequate drainage, and reports presence of various viruses in the water supply. Ali Khurshedi highlighted the severe mental stress faced by residents who have been enduring weeks and months of water scarcity, forcing many to purchase water for their daily needs amid skyrocketing inflation. The Sindh Opposition Leader also pointed out that the agencies responsible for drainage failed to take adequate measures to remove rainwater that had accumulated on streets and in residential areas during recent rains.
The negligence has resulted in widespread foul odors in neighborhoods, making it difficult for residents to navigate the streets. In response, CEO Salahuddin Ahmed briefed the MQM-P leader on the ongoing efforts to improve water supply and drainage systems in the city. He assured them that these initiatives would be completed as soon as possible.
