MPA Ali Khorasani lamented the deteriorating situation, saying precious lives being snatched away in the city by non-resident criminals as incidents of street crimes are escalating day by day

KARACHI: Ali Khorasani, the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly from the United National Movement of Pakistan, attended the funeral prayers of a young student who lost his life in a recent kidnapping alongside the esteemed members of the parliament, Afzal Alam and Muaz Mahboob. He expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.

Speaking to the media representatives on this occasion, Ali Khorasani lamented the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi. He remarked that yet another precious life has been snatched away in this city where incidents of street crimes are escalating day by day. He criticized the silence of the Sindh government officials, accusing them of turning a blind eye to the influx of non-local individuals who are exacerbating the situation by seeking refuge in the city after committing crimes.

Khorasani emphasized that the issue of street crimes should be viewed as a humanitarian crisis rather than a political one. He highlighted the audacity of criminals who, after committing robberies, proceed to murder their victims, yet remain unchecked by the authorities. Karachi has become a hub for banditry and extortion, causing immense suffering to its residents and tarnishing the image of the entire province, he added.

Furthermore, he criticized both the non-local criminals and the non-local police for troubling the citizens of Karachi, asserting that instead of addressing the wounds of the people, the non-local rulers are politicizing the issue. He pointed out that during the holy month of Ramadan, the city has witnessed over fifty deaths, indicating a dire need for practical measures rather than administrative delays.
