KARACHI: In a significant environmental initiative, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan organized a National Tree Plantation Campaign in Malir Town. The event saw the participation of MQM Pakistan Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Leader of the Opposition Ali Khurshidi, Member of National Assembly Asiya Ishaq, Member of Provincial Assembly Shariq Jamal, and other notable figures.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui highlighted the crucial role of tree planting in mitigating the effects of climate change. He noted, “Today, we are joined by those whose ancestors took on the responsibility of Pakistan centuries ago, and their descendants continue to uphold this responsibility. It is not wrong to say that those present here are the descendants of those who created Pakistan. The efforts of Karachi’s people are vital for the city and the country, and even the government employees in Islamabad benefit from this city’s prosperity.”

Dr. Siddiqui criticized the renewed calls for a ‘Sindhu Desh’ following the 18th Amendment, asserting, “As long as the Muhajirs are alive, Sindhu Desh cannot become a reality. We have already made sacrifices beyond our share. In 1971, we were displaced from the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam to another Pakistan. Today, even the Mayor of this city, who is part of the provincial government, cannot lament about lack of authority. These are the same people who previously broke Pakistan and are now bent on destroying its system. The time is not far when those benefiting from the decayed system will face despair. The future of Pakistan depends on this city’s hands, and it is only when Pakistan is handed back to those who built it that it can return to peace, prosperity, and development.”

Leader of the Opposition Sindh, Ali Khurshidi, emphasized the responsibility of MQM as a political party, saying, “MQM has taken on the burden of responsibility as a responsible political party. Climate change is a challenge our country faces, and MQM started its tree plantation campaign on August 1. From August 1 to August 12, thousands of trees have been planted daily. Wherever MQM workers are present, they are planting their share of trees. The purpose of this program is to instill a sense of responsibility for tree planting.”

Member of National Assembly Asiya Ishaq urged everyone to participate in tree planting, stating, “I belong to a party that knows how to tackle global challenges. I urge everyone present to plant trees for themselves and future generations. Tree planting is essential for improving the environment.” Member of Provincial Assembly Shariq Jamal also addressed the participants, reinforcing the importance of the national tree plantation campaign.
