MUNICH: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, conducted a series of high-level meetings in Germany this week, focusing on bilateral and regional security matters.
His visit, which coincided with the 62nd Munich Security Conference, brought together military and civilian leaders from multiple nations to discuss defence cooperation, counter-terrorism, and broader strategic issues. According to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, addressing shared concerns over global and regional security.
The discussions were reported to centre on strengthening counter-terrorism collaboration and exploring avenues for enhanced defence partnerships. During his stay, he also met Germany’s Interior Minister and an advisor to the German Chancellor, underscoring the focus on deepening ties in security and defence matters between Islamabad and Berlin.
Further engagements included meetings with top military officials from other nations, reflecting Pakistan’s intention to maintain an active dialogue on regional stability. Field Marshal Munir held discussions with General Karsten Breuer, Chief of the German Armed Forces, exploring defence cooperation and potential joint initiatives.
He also engaged with Brazil’s Joint Staff Chief and Lebanon’s Armed Forces Commander, General Rodolphe Hickel, to review recent developments affecting regional and international security. The ISPR reported that these meetings concluded with agreements to enhance defence partnerships and strengthen ongoing cooperation, marking a productive engagement for Pakistan’s military leadership on the international stage.
