KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah met with the new Inspector General of Police, Javed Alam Odho, at the Chief Minister’s House on 1 January 2026, extending his best wishes on assuming command of the province’s police force.
During the meeting, Shah emphasised that maintaining law and order across the province should remain the police’s foremost priority. He called for robust operations against criminals in rural areas and urged intensified efforts to curb street crime in Karachi.
The Chief Minister instructed the police to restore their image as a public-friendly force, continue modernisation initiatives, and enhance the effectiveness of the Safe City project. He also directed that ongoing operations against drug trafficking be accelerated.
Shah noted that the Sindh government was taking comprehensive steps to improve policing, but added that the police themselves must deliver tangible results.
