ISLAMABAD: Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed presented a detailed five-point action plan aimed at addressing the ongoing crisis in Palestine and fostering peace across the Middle East. Speaking at the International Peace Institute (IPI) conference in Islamabad, Senator Hussain emphasized the need for decisive international intervention to alleviate Palestinian suffering and promote a lasting peace settlement. His plan included a series of strategic actions, with a strong call for Muslim countries and the international community to take a more active role in resolving the conflict.
The first point of the action plan calls for an Arab and OIC Emergency Summit to be convened on November 11. This summit would address the immediate humanitarian crisis in Palestine and create a platform for leaders from the Global South and Europe to rally around the Palestinian cause. Proposed attendees include Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Algeria, Brazil, and Norway, as well as Ireland—countries that have officially recognized Palestine.
Senator Hussain also urged these leaders to press U.S. President-elect Donald Trump for a ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and a clear commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. His second recommendation involved the formation of a Joint Naval Humanitarian Flotilla comprising naval forces from Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. This initiative, which would require authorization from the UN General Assembly, is intended to demonstrate the political will and resolve of the Muslim Ummah, showcasing unity and a proactive stance on the issue.
