KARACHI: Senior MQM-P leader and Federal Minister for Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal, inaugurated a new digitalized health care center under the Federal Health Care Digitalization Program at the Federal Government Dispensary in F.C. Area, near Rangers Headquarters, Karachi.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mustafa Kamal described the establishment of digital health care centers as a significant step toward providing timely, high-quality, and modern medical services to urban populations. He emphasized that the government aims to promote a preventive health care system rather than focusing solely on treatment.
Highlighting Pakistan’s growing population as a major challenge, he said, “Countries that have achieved development maintained population growth at 2 percent or less, while ours is 3.6 percent. This rapid growth poses economic, social, and environmental challenges and creates resource distribution issues, threatening Pakistan’s economy and survival.” He also pointed out that approximately 10,000 mothers die each year during childbirth, stating that this is a preventable loss.
Mustafa Kamal added that these centers will leverage modern technology and telemedicine to provide expert medical services directly to the public, ensuring timely and effective treatment for low- and middle-income communities. He noted that the new system will also help reduce congestion in major hospitals, improving care for patients there.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering basic health services to citizens at their doorstep and announced plans to establish more digitalized health care centers across Karachi and other parts of the country in the coming months.
The inauguration was attended by Dr. Sarah, CEO of Sehat Kahani, health department officials, medical experts, and a large number of local residents.
