KHAIRPUR: The national anti-polio campaign was officially launched in Jamshoro, with Deputy Commissioner Altaf Hussain Chachar directing all polio teams to ensure every child under the age of five receives polio drops.
Addressing a morning assembly in Khairpur, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that polio remains a dangerous disease and vaccination is the only protection. He appealed to parents to fully cooperate with polio workers during the campaign, which began on 15 December.
On the first day, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed ongoing activities and checked immunization cards of children from nomadic families. District health officers, police, revenue officials and polio teams were also present to oversee operations.
The campaign will cover all union councils in Khairpur district, with a focus on reaching every child under five, including those in hard-to-reach areas. Assistant Commissioner Arslan Hyder Phulpoto also reviewed vaccination efforts and instructed teams to pay special attention to families refusing polio drops, reinforcing the need for community awareness and compliance.
