Nawab of Bahawalpur calls on President Zardari

ISLAMABAD: Nawab of Bahawalpur, Nawab Salahuddin Ahmed Abbasi, along with his son Bahawal Khan Abbasi, paid a visit to President Asif Ali Zardari at the President House on Saturday. The meeting was marked by a warm exchange of views on various national and regional issues, with a particular focus on the development of Southern Punjab.

During the meeting, President Zardari lauded the Nawab and his family for their longstanding commitment and contributions to Pakistan, especially in the social sector. He acknowledged the pivotal role the Nawab of Bahawalpur has played in the region’s history, emphasizing the family’s enduring legacy in supporting education, healthcare, and other social initiatives that have significantly benefited the people of Bahawalpur and beyond.

President Zardari also underscored the importance of unity among all political stakeholders in the country. He reiterated that the challenges facing Pakistan today require a collective approach, where all political parties and leaders must work together to ensure the country’s development and prosperity. “It is crucial that we put our differences aside and focus on the common goal of uplifting our nation,” the president said.

The Nawab of Bahawalpur expressed his gratitude for the recognition of his family’s efforts and assured President Zardari of his continued support in initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people. He highlighted the unique cultural and historical heritage of Bahawalpur, stressing the need for special attention to be given to the development of Southern Punjab.

The discussion also touched on the potential for collaboration between the federal government and regional leadership in addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by Southern Punjab. Both leaders agreed that targeted efforts are necessary to bring about meaningful change in the region, particularly in areas such as infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.
