LAHORE: Nawaz Sharif, leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former prime minister, has said that Pakistan is once again heading in the right direction — a development he described as a welcome change. Speaking to reporters in London, Nawaz said the world is witnessing a stronger and more confident Pakistan emerging on the global stage.
“Pakistan is once again moving forward, and that is something to be happy about,” he said. “The entire world saw that Pakistan has re-emerged as a resilient and strong country.” He emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s international friendships, saying that many of the country’s allies have stood by it in difficult times. He also urged the United Nations to ensure that its resolutions on Kashmir are implemented.
“The whole world is watching Kashmir,” Nawaz Sharif said. He credited the economic and political improvements in the country to the policies of the PML-N government. He said relief measures taken by the government are beginning to reach people, and praised the work being done in Punjab under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz.
“People can see that conditions in Punjab are improving day by day,” he said, adding that both Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have earned public support through their efforts. Reflecting on the past, Nawaz said that in 2017, there was widespread recognition that Pakistan was on the right path. “It was clear Pakistan was progressing, but political conspiracies derailed us,” he said.
