KARACHI: NED University of Engineering and Technology held its 23rd Annual Convocation, bestowing degrees upon 1,700 bachelor’s graduates, 277 master’s students, and 21 PhD scholars. The event, marked by high spirits and aspirations, was graced by the Chancellor of Universities and Governor of Sindh, Muhammad Kamran Khan Tesori, Chief Guest Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, and special guests including Hussain Dawood and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Surosh Hasmat Lodhi.
In his address, Governor Tesori highlighted the pivotal role of young scholars, stating, “You are the axis of our hopes. Quality education and research in educational institutions equip us to compete globally.” He emphasized the necessity for students to excel in information technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, urging them to work diligently and demonstrate their capabilities. “As Chancellor, I am delighted to see how NED prepares students for the research world, enabling them to conquer the universe.”
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his pride in being an alumnus of NED, stating, “For every student, participating in this annual convocation is a dream. I still feel like a student here, which is a source of joy for me.” He praised the tireless efforts of Vice Chancellor Dr. Lodhi and his team in advancing the university’s mission, affirming his ongoing commitment to the institution. Hussain Dawood, Chairman of Dawood Hercules Corporation, encouraged the graduates, stating, “The world of possibilities awaits you. In the times to come, you will not only unlock doors of opportunities but also bring honor to the nation.”
In his speech, Vice Chancellor Dr. Surosh Hasmat Lodhi acknowledged the collaborative effort from the federal and provincial governments, administration, and faculty that has provided students with an exceptional educational environment.
