DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of the commissioner of Dera Division, Dawood Khan, to review security arrangements and overall preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the previous polio campaign, the performance of field teams and planning for the next phase. It was attended by the regional police officer, Syed Ashfaq Anwar, the deputy commissioner, Abdul Nasir Khan, the district police officer, Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, the assistant to the commissioner for political and development affairs, Sajjad Baloch, and representatives of the health department, EPI, WHO, ComNet and other relevant departments.
The commissioner appreciated the hard work and dedication of field teams during the last campaign, saying their tireless efforts had helped achieve most of the targets. He reiterated the commitment of all departments to continue working together for the complete eradication of polio.
Preparations for the upcoming four-day campaign, due to begin on 2 February 2026, were also reviewed. Officials briefed the meeting on vaccine availability, team formation, route planning and monitoring mechanisms. The commissioner directed that all available resources should be used to ensure access to every child so that none were left unvaccinated.
Security arrangements remained a key focus, with detailed discussions on providing full protection to polio teams. The commissioner issued clear instructions to security agencies to ensure foolproof security, particularly in sensitive areas. The meeting also stressed the need to strengthen public awareness efforts, address parents’ concerns and enhance community participation.
