ISLAMABAD: In a noteworthy advancement for Pakistan’s energy sector, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has joined forces with CCDC, a key player in drilling and upstream oil field services, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday. The ceremony unfolded in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, during the 8th Silk Road International Expo for Investment and Trade, with Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik present to mark the occasion.
This pivotal MoU encapsulates a shared commitment to unlocking Pakistan’s shale and tight gas potential, thereby addressing the nation’s escalating energy demands through the harnessing of domestic resources. The agreement was formalized by Mumtaz Ali Soomro, Executive Director (Production) of OGDCL, and Mr. Zhang Zhidong, Vice President of CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Ltd., who represented their respective organizations.
The significance of the partnership was further underscored by the presence of Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi. Dr. Musadik Malik, in his remarks, conveyed optimism about the prospects of this collaboration, highlighting its potential to enhance cooperative efforts in the energy sector and yield mutual benefits for both Pakistan and China.
