TEHRAN: Oil loading at Iran’s Kharg Island has continued despite a recent US attack, with several tankers still receiving crude shipments from the strategic export hub. The development was reported by tanker monitoring platform TankerTrackers, which tracks global maritime oil movements.
According to the report, oil was still being loaded onto tankers at Kharg Island after the American strike. At least seven tankers were present near the island, with five already loaded with crude oil while two others were waiting to receive shipments.
TankerTrackers said the continued operations suggested that Iran’s key oil export infrastructure remained active despite the attack. The monitoring platform relies on satellite imagery and shipping data to track the movement and activity of maritime tankers around the world.
The United States carried out strikes on Kharg Island on Friday night. The island, located in the Persian Gulf close to Iran’s coast, is about five miles long and is widely considered the main hub for the country’s oil exports.
Energy experts say nearly 90 per cent of Iran’s crude oil exports pass through Kharg Island, making it one of the most critical facilities in the global oil supply chain.
