ISLAMABAD: Omar Ayub, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has firmly rejected demands for the party to issue apologies, stating that PTI seeks forgiveness only from God. In a recent media briefing, Ayub dismissed suggestions that PTI’s actions warrant apologies, asserting that the party has not committed any wrongful acts requiring such gestures.
Ayub took the opportunity to criticize political opponents and former administrations for the current economic downturn. He accused these figures, including General Bajwa, of contributing to the economic crisis and misrepresenting facts. “The economic decline we are witnessing today is a result of failed policies and misinformation propagated by past administrations,” Ayub stated. He contrasted this with what he described as the economic improvements during Imran Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister.
Further, Ayub challenged the release of CCTV footage from the May 9 incident, suggesting that such evidence would clear up misunderstandings and reveal the truth about PTI’s involvement. He argued that during PTI’s governance, economic indicators were on the rise, in stark contrast to the current situation where reports indicate people are queuing for passports to leave the country. Ayub’s remarks come amid ongoing debates and scrutiny over PTI’s role in recent political and economic developments.
