QUETTA: The Balochistan government announced that the overall security situation across the province had largely returned to normal, following a period of heightened unrest and targeted attacks.
Authorities said that while day-to-day life was stabilizing, focused security operations continued in specific areas of Quetta, guided by ongoing intelligence assessments. Shahid Rand, spokesperson for the provincial administration, confirmed that around 100 suspected individuals had been taken into custody during recent operations in Quetta, with a number of weapons recovered in coordinated raids.
The Balochistan spokesman added that internet services in the city were expected to be fully restored, though he cautioned that in zones where search-and-clear operations remained underway, connectivity could continue to be temporarily disrupted. Rand also highlighted efforts to repair roads in the district of Nushki, which had been damaged during the unrest, underscoring the broader challenge of restoring infrastructure and public services in the aftermath of security incidents.
Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Muhammad Hamza Shafqat provided an update on jail-related security breaches, reporting that nearly 60 prisoners had escaped during recent attacks on facilities in Nushki and Mastung.
Authorities were reportedly pursuing the escapees, with intensified patrols and coordination between local and provincial security forces aimed at preventing further disruption. Despite these challenges, officials expressed confidence that continued intelligence-led operations and public cooperation would help restore lasting stability in the province.
