KARACHI: During a targeted snap-check operation, the Jackson Police of Kemari intercepted a major consignment of foreign liquor, valued at over Rs. 7.5 million, intended for illegal sale during New Year celebrations.
According to SSP Kemari, Amjad Sheikh, police recovered 300 bottles of foreign, non-customs cleared liquor, with the price of a single bottle exceeding Rs. 25,000. The haul highlights a significant attempt at smuggling and illicit distribution.
During the operation, the suspects managed to flee the scene, prompting a continued search and further legal action. SSP Amjad Sheikh confirmed that additional measures are being taken to ensure the culprits are apprehended and brought to justice.
Authorities emphasized the operation as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal trade and smuggling activities, particularly during peak festive periods.
Meanwhile, in another targeted operation based on secret intelligence, East Sohrab Goth Police apprehended a suspected drug dealer, confirmed SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh. The arrested individual has been identified as Azizullah Magsi, son of Shakeel Magsi. During the operation, police recovered over 700 grams of high-quality hashish from his possession.
A case has been registered against the suspect under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, and his previous criminal record is being verified. Authorities stated that the operation was carried out to curb the supply of illegal narcotics in the area and further investigations are ongoing.
