RIYADH/ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, along with the secretariats of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the League of Arab States, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, have strongly condemned remarks by the United States Ambassador to Israel.
The ambassador had indicated that it would be acceptable for Israel to exercise control over territories belonging to Arab states, including the occupied West Bank. The ministers described the comments as “dangerous and inflammatory”, saying they violate international law and the United Nations Charter, and pose a serious threat to regional security and stability.
They said the remarks contradict the vision set out by US President Donald J. Trump and the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which seek to contain escalation and create a political horizon for a comprehensive settlement. The ministers stressed that the plan is based on tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
“Remarks seeking to legitimize control over the lands of others undermine these objectives, fuel tensions, and constitute incitement rather than advancing peace,” the statement said. The ministers reaffirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory or any other occupied Arab lands. They rejected any attempt to annex the West Bank, separate it from the Gaza Strip, or expand settlements in Palestinian territory.
