ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of Israeli airstrikes targeting Beirut and other parts of southern Lebanon, urging the United Nations and international mediators to urgently address what it describes as blatant aggression. In an official statement from the Foreign Office, Islamabad denounced the attacks carried out on the night of Eid al-Adha, describing them as a clear violation of international law and a breach of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
The statement expressed deep concern over the strikes, noting that they contravene the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, which was intended to bring a fragile calm to the region. Pakistan warned that the reckless use of military force not only puts countless civilian lives at risk but also threatens to destabilize an already volatile region, where tensions have long simmered beneath the surface.
Highlighting its solidarity with the Lebanese government and people, Pakistan’s foreign office called on all parties to take urgent measures to prevent any further escalation. The statement underscored the need for accountability, insisting that those responsible for the violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty must be held to account under international law.
This condemnation comes amid growing fears that renewed violence could unravel fragile peace efforts, with diplomatic circles increasingly alarmed at the risk of broader conflict. Pakistan’s response reflects its longstanding position in support of Lebanon’s territorial integrity and a peaceful resolution to regional disputes, reinforcing the call for restraint and dialogue amid rising tensions.
