RAWALPINDI: Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Secretary General Major General Mohammed Bin Saeed Al-Moghedi held a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday, the military’s media wing reported.
The discussions focused on regional security challenges and opportunities for closer cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both officials reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism and extremism through joint strategies, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building initiatives among member states.
Field Marshal Munir commended the IMCTC’s work in promoting stability across the Islamic world and its coordination of counter-terrorism operations, describing it as a vital mechanism for collective security in the region. Major General Al-Moghedi, in turn, acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He lauded the professionalism of the country’s armed forces and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration to address evolving threats.
The meeting underscored both sides’ determination to strengthen institutional linkages to ensure peace, stability, and security. The visit also forms part of a broader IMCTC engagement in Pakistan, with the delegation scheduled to remain in the country from 2 to 6 February. During this period, the team is set to conduct a week-long training program at the National University of Sciences and Technology, focusing on the reintegration and rehabilitation of extremist elements.
Officials described the program as a key step towards sharing expertise and promoting coordinated approaches to countering radicalization and supporting post-conflict recovery in member countries.
