ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military intensified its campaign against the Afghan Taliban regime with a major strike on Afghanistan’s Bagram Air Base, marking a significant escalation in Operation Ghazab Lil Haq. Satellite images and international reports confirmed the destruction of an aircraft hangar and two warehouses at the strategic facility.
The Pakistan Air Force carried out the attack as part of a broader offensive targeting Taliban and militant groups, including Fitna al-Khawarij, along the Afghan border. Satellite imagery revealed severe damage to key infrastructure at Bagram, significantly reducing the operational capability of the base.
The New York Times described the strike as a major operational success for Pakistan and noted that Afghan authorities also acknowledged the attack. Security sources reported that the operation followed more than 50 airstrikes on Afghan military targets within a week, inflicting heavy losses on the Taliban and affiliated militants.
Officials said the strike came in response to ongoing cross-border threats, including weapons left behind by the United States that have been used against Pakistan. A recent infiltration attempt near the Torkham border crossing was foiled, and an Afghan Taliban commander, Qahraman, along with his associates, was killed during counter-operations.
Defense experts highlighted the strategic significance of the Bagram strike, emphasizing that it signals Pakistan’s capability and resolve to respond decisively to threats originating from Afghan territory. The campaign underscores the country’s determination to neutralize militant infrastructure and secure its borders against persistent terrorist activity.
