RAWALPINDI: The closing ceremony of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Exercise Druzhba-VII in the counter-terrorism domain was held today at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, marking a significant collaboration between the armed forces of both nations. This two-week-long exercise, which commenced on October 13, 2024, involved the Special Forces of the Pakistan Army and a contingent of 54 personnel from the Russian Army, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing military cooperation.
Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, HI (M), the Inspector General of Training & Evaluation (IGT&E), attended the ceremony as the chief guest, emphasizing the importance of such joint initiatives in refining operational capabilities and fostering strong military ties. His Excellency Albert P. Khorev, the Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, was also present, underscoring the diplomatic significance of the event.
Throughout the exercise, the participating troops showcased remarkable professionalism and dedication, effectively honing their skills in counter-terrorism operations. The primary objective of Druzhba-VII was to refine drills, procedures, and techniques while strengthening the historic military relations between Pakistan and Russia. This collaboration not only aims to enhance the capabilities of both armies but also reflects a shared commitment to combating the threats posed by terrorism in the region.
